Re-Balance Pilates Education

Donna Parise Byrne was introduced to Pilates by Elizabeth Larkam and Brent Anderson in 1991, and has been integrating Pilates into her physical therapy treatment plans ever since. Donna’s first love was ballet. After a career as a professional ballet dancer, she received her Physical Therapy degree from the University of Illinois in 1988, and earned her Polestar Pilates Rehabilitation certification in 2001.
Donna joined the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago in 1995 to help grow the Performing Arts program and introduced Pilates to RIC. She opened her private practice and first Pilates studio in 2003. She was first introduced to the concepts of Postural Restoration in 2009, and immediately began incorporating PRI into her PT and Pilates practice. In 2012 Donna earned her certification in Postural Restoration (PRC), her studio, Pilates Central Wellness, is the only designated Postural Restoration Center in Illinois.
In partnership with Sarah Petrich, Donna co-founded Re-Balance Pilates Education, integrating the concepts of PRI and Pilates, creating techniques to re-balance and retrain the body. Re-Balance Pilates is an evolution of the course “PRI Integration for Pilates” that they co-created and taught from 2016 to 2020.

I absolutely love these exercise breakdowns. Sure, we’ve taught for years and practiced Pilates for even more but it’s still fun to dissect things together and Shelly is brilliant at helping us look at the old through fresh eyes.
