Chronic Back Pain

This one-day course taught by Brent Anderson, PhD, PT, OCS, is designed to provide relief and hope for clients with chronic pain. Providing successful movement experiences without pain is a systemic balance of body, mind and spirit. Joseph Pilates’ guiding principles inspire a perfect formula to diminish the perception of disability, pain and hopelessness. Pilates’ formula for Whole Body Health has proven to be a means to get one’s back under control. Anderson will take each participant through a soul-searching reflection of their body, mind and spirit and send each participant home with concrete actions that, if used, will provide hope and healing to maximize their potential.

Following this 8 hour course, participants will:

  1. Be able to recognize many different types of chronic illnesses and what they have in common
  2. Learn how to design a safe and healthy program for patients suffering from chronic pain syndromes
  3. Familiarize themselves with modifications necessary to provide a Positive Movement Experience without Pain
  4. Understand how Joseph Pilates' philosophy on health can help improve the quality of life even in the midst of chronic pain

Prerequisite:

Successful completion of the Polestar Pilates Comprehensive Series OR a comparable comprehensive Pilates teacher training; OR licensed medical or rehabilitation professional (MD, PT, OT, DO, RN, Bach Sp Sc/Hmn Mvt, Bach App Sc)
